Sportswear brands had been ignoring the fact that women’s bodies are fundamentally different to men’s. With evidence that adapting your training to your menstrual cycle could help improve performance, we went to Nike with the proactive idea to talk differently to the everyday female athlete about how they train. The result was NikeSync – a digital training programme for people with periods.
Partnering with Nike and global expert on female athletes, Dr Stacy Sims, we created content to help people with periods train to the key phases of their cycle and learn more about their physiology.
Launched on the Nike Training Club App and across social, Nike Sync was supported by female coaches and athletes the world over – all helping to normalise conversations around periods and fitness. It became the first source of its kind, and in June 2022, Nike Sync won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix award in the ‘Entertainment Lions for Sport, Diversity & Inclusion in Sport’ category.
Here are some examples of the editorial articles for Nike.com and the Nike Training Club App.
Let’s explain what we never learned at school about the menstrual cycle.
